Combat Encounter Designer

Do you love crafting intense, well-paced action combat encounters? Do you have experience taking them from idea to completion in finished games? Do you enjoy working with a small group of talented and passionate game devs? If you answered yes, yes and yes… read on.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with design leadership to plan and implement action-oriented combat encounters across a variety of environments and dungeons

  • Implement all intended gameplay utilizing Blueprint in Unreal Engine, from concept to completion

  • Craft a well-paced experience, utilizing all aspects of the player combat package

  • Work with combat designers to implement encounters that fully utilize both the player’s toolset and the creature’s

  • Work with design leadership to iterate on and polish the experience

  • Provide reasonable time estimates, and communicate when adjustments are needed

REQUIRED:

  • A passion for both action combat design and technical implementation

  • Experience as designer on a shipped commercial title

  • A thorough understanding of technical implementation techniques, primarily visual scripting (Blueprint or similar)

  • Minimum 3 years commercial game development experience

  • A thorough understanding of typical design pipelines

  • Able to effectively collaborate with other departments

  • Motivated and self-driven; complete tasks without major supervision

  • Skilled problem solver

  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States

  • Experience on previous shipped action games specifically
