Senior Combat Designer

We're currently working on an unannounced PC/console title (with an exciting pedigree), and need an experienced Combat Designer to help pack the world with intense and satisfying action combat.

If you've got the experience and enjoy working with a small-ish (around 20) group of talented and passionate game devs, then we're the place for you.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with design leadership to create combat plans for creatures, bosses and main characters

  • Implement combat, both on creatures and the main character, in Unreal using Blueprint and other scripting tools

  • Work with design leadership to iterate on and polish all combat interactions

  • Implement and maintain well-paced combat encounters in levels

  • Provide reasonable time estimates, and communicate when adjustments are needed

REQUIRED:

  • A love of both combat design and technical implementation

  • A thorough understanding of technical implementation techniques, primarily visual scripting (Blueprint or similar)

  • Experience as designer on multiple shipped commercial titles

  • Minimum 5 years commercial game development experience

  • A thorough understanding of typical design pipelines

  • Able to effectively collaborate with other departments

  • Motivated and self-driven; complete tasks without major supervision

  • Skilled problem solver

  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States

PLUSES:

  • Experience on previous shipped action games specifically
